Our Concerts

We have two concerts each season, in December and May. Our December concert is performed on the first Saturday of the month. This year our concert on 5th December 2009 was based on the Christmas section of the Messiah and traditional Christmas music and readings. An audience which filled the church greatly appreciated the high quality of soloists and choir.

Recent December concerts have included such works as ; Gloria - Vivaldi; This is the Record of John - Gibbons; Mass of the Children and the Magnificat - Rutter; Cantata 140 and 147 - Bach; Hodie and Fantasia on Christmas Carols - Vaughan Williams; The Spirit of the Lord is upon me - Elgar Lay a Garland - Pearsall; to name a few, together with many more traditional Christmas items.

Our next concert will be on May 8th 2010 and is titled ‘Basically Baroque’. It will include Vivaldi’s Gloria, Cantata No.4 by Bach and other choral and orchestral works by Handel etc. There will be a professional orchestra and soloists. Keep the date free!!

Recent May concerts have included ; Dido and Aeneas - Purcell; Requiem - Fauré and Mozart; Missa Cellensis - Haydn; Magnificat - Schubert; Gloria - Poulenc.

Both concerts this season will be at St Michaels Church, Brierley Hill and followed by a chance to relax with the choir and soloists over a drink, and refreshments.
